Recycling organics for a net-zero world.
HUGHES ENERGY
Redefining the meaning and value of waste
We are a fiber production, technology company addressing the waste crisis.
The world generates over 2 billion tons of municipal solid waste per year. Almost 70% of that is landfilled, contributing to about 1.6 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions. Over 50% of landfilled waste is organic waste, such as food, paper, cardboard and yard waste.
Hughes Energy is taking action on the waste crisis by transforming all organic material into valuable products utilizing our green technology. We are revolutionizing waste management and addressing the climate emergency.

Each HEG facility treats up to 175,000 tons of organic waste per year using Mechanical Heat Treatment at low temperature. No burning, melting or incinerating of any kind.

Our system avoids up to 200,000 tons of CO2 equivalent annually through the diversion of organic waste from landfill and reduced transportation of waste from origin of generation to distant landfills.

Our mission is to lead a global transition to decarbonization. At Hughes Energy, our purpose begins with our technology. The patented and proprietary Wilson System® transforms organic waste into a raw material in a way similar to how heat causes dried corn to explode into popcorn.
Our goal is to recycle organic waste into bioproducts, providing a second life for what us now hugely problematic for society and the climate. We are transforming current management practices into carbon-negative standards. The output of our system, the Wilson Fibre®, is then applied to a variety of consumer, chemical and biofuel products, helping decarbonize our economic ecosystems.

Our contribution to the Global Methane Pledge
The United States, along with 121 additional participants, joined the Global Methane Pledge to reduce global methane emissions at least 30% by 2030. HEG's reuse of organic waste destined for landfills and incinerators directly contributes to the national reduction of the 15% methane generated from burning and decomposition of organic waste.
Path to a sustainable future is possible.
Our society is presented with a complex challenge on climate change. We know real change comes through a collective effort of effective solutions. These ambitious goals are what drive us and we aim to create a measurable impact in the fight against climate change.
We are partnering with regional waste professionals and some of the world's biggest brands to take a leadership position in the waste revolution - we need to stop seeing organics as a waste and see them as a raw material.
Today, our technology allows companies to conserve natural resources, providing feedstock variability for the creation of sustainable bio-products and biofuels. In the future, our technology will sit at the heart of a waste management transformation, providing a low-carbon, circular economy approach of the future.
